For those that denounce chain store establishments in favor of good "mom and pop" type, this IS the sandwich shop and convenience store to visit. The store section manages to squeeze in a lot of what you would need in a precious small amount of space. Somehow though, I dont think people are going here for the stock, but rather the sandwiches. As others have stated, these sandwiches are HUGE! If your getting a sandwich for yourself, get a half sandwich. Seriously, you might even feed two off the half, or make two meals out of it. The condiments are plenty both in portions and choices at a very reasonable price. The meat slices are NOT paper thin or sparce. Just recently added is a pulled pork sandwich that you simply MUST try... chances are you'll be back for more!

Total mom & pop vibe, and great quality to back it up! Get a giant, tasty sandwich for a very fair price while you pop in for just about any manner of produce, drinks, or other daily foodstuffs you could want.

Huge deli sandwich for the price of every chain and obviously better! Cool market too!

  • Elizabeth H.

Always delicious, the portions are huge, the staff is friendly, and I am never unsatisfied! But just a heads up, the prices on the website are not correct. For the half size, most of the sandwiches are about 50 cents to a dollar more.

I've been coming here for 17 years. The other 5-star reviews have covered it all. The meats, cheeses and pickles are thick cut and the baked goods are brought in daily. Always fresh, always delicious.

Absolutely love this place! Gargantuan sandwiches and great service. If you're going to get a sandwich I recommend splitting one with a friend or taking half to go. Also, they have the greatest selection of hot sauce. Go there!

I will like the warmth and decor of this place. It has a nice homey feel to it that I think is nearly entirely lost in the city outside of here. This is basically only a place I hit in summer as I can't possibly dine in (no tables except outside) and now with the new food storage challenges I have at the new job, unless I'm coming relatively straight home, there's not much point in bothering. I still think of it fondly, though it may be more of a historical spot these days.

On Milo Q.'s recommendation, I too enjoyed the tomato/avocado sandwich and it did change my life. It is one of the best sandwiches around, no joke. I've had nothing but good experiences at Groves, and only wish it was a little closer to my house...

  • Brandon C.

I still love Grove, but I felt it necessary to pass along a useful technique that will keep your sandwich from falling apart. The trick is the toothpicks that come stabbed into your sandwich. Don't discard them! Instead, you need to strategically keep them in the middle of your sandwich at all times. Take a bite, center your toothpick, take a bite, center your toothpick, and so on. Be warned that as you get closer to the end, biting into the toothpick becomes a serious threat. BE TOOTHPICK SMART and enjoy your sandwich in it's perfectly organized manner, just like God intended.

    Best sandwiches ever!!!

You cant go wrong with the Deluxe. Throw in a glass bottled coke on a warm day sitting out front. Perfect.

I had higher expectations for my visit here. The sandwich I ordered was the largest sandwich I have ever gotten at once. I could barely finish half of it. It was packed with meat that wasn't very good and had so much mayo on it that I had to squeeze it out to make it tolerable to eat. It is possible that i just had a bad experience here and maybe "ordered the wrong thing on the menu." I know several people who really like this place and you will certainly leave feeling like you got your moneys worth. This place feels cluttered and is hard to maneuver in. Its a little grocery store and only has tables outside if you wish to dine there. It is a quaint little place and is unique with a very local vibe. I might return if the occasion presents itself but its not a place I will actively make the effort to return to.

I will be straightforward and honest with you right upfront in regards to this review, I am partial to family owned establishments. It's not that I don't like chains and corporate stores I simple prefer to spend my money at family owned places. I like tradition and I enjoy going place that just scream americana. Having said that, finding the Grove Market & Deli was nothing short of a revelation, this is without question my favorite Deli, slash quick stop store in the Salt Lake valley!!!!! As you read the reviews for the Grove Market & Deli you cannot help but notice how EVERYBODY comments on how large the sandwiches are and for good reason, the sandwiches are huge!!!!! One sandwich is large enough for two people, if you are light eaters like some of the ladies that I know one sandwich might be large enough to split amongst four people. However, the sandwiches are as wonderfully tasty as they are large, seriously, the food at the Grove Market & Deli is very, VERY good!!! All of the sandwiches are great but my favorite is the pulled pork, the meat is so tender and so well seasoned that sometimes after I have eaten all that I can eat I will remove the bread and just eat the pulled pork, it's that good. Now the best part, when you walk in say hi to Jim behind the counter, after a few visits he will remember you and it's like bumping in to an old friend every time you go back. Then, take a few minutes and look around the market, it's almost like they have neatly packed the inventory of a grocery store into a small corner market with the only difference being the that the items you find in the Grove Market & Deli are all top of the line, if you enjoy cooking at home and you are looking for unique oils, pasta sauces, and various seasonings then this is the place. Then take a look at the soda cooler, if you want to be thrown back into memories of your childhood grab one of the MANY speciality sodas that they stock and take a ride down memory lane. The last time I was at the Deli I had a REAL, AUTHENTIC Black Cherry Soda and I was blown away, the last time I had a Black Cherry Soda was probably thirty ago, how I love it when things remind me of my youth. I am rambling, go to the Grove Market & Deli, you will love it, I promise!!! God Bless American and God Bless family owned businesses!!!!

Ok, so I vascillated between 3-4 stars so I went up instead of down. This is a tiny little market that has been there forever and is pretty awesome. They have like 40 different types of bottled olives and other condiment type items in abundance. This isn't where you'd go for your everyday shopping, but they do have some good stuff in there: trail mix, chips, candy, and the reason why most people go there: the sandwiches: The sandwiches are ginormous. Split one with a friend. And they are like $8-9. So for a great big sammy you are paying only like $4. They also have like 6 different kinds of root beer! This is Utah after all! One of the root beers is called "rat b*stard" and it says: "quit being a dick and drink it." I appreciate this. Only place to eat is outside, so take it with you back to the office, or plan on going on a nice day and enjoy the picnic tables outside. This place is a throw-back, and I'm down.

Ridiculously huge sandwiches at Grove enough to feed two. A lot of good reviews here, so I have little to add except that avocado is a regular on the sandwiches...YUMMY. Recommend if... A) You tried the Subway diet and failed. Introducing the Grove Diet. B) You want a lot of food (even for 2) for a few bucks. C) You need to bribe someone, in which they'll take the bait when they see a monster Grove sandwich.

  • Brandy S.

Oh my! When someone says these sandwiches are large, they mean it! Pictures can not do these things justice! I was barely able to eat half of mine (chicken salad - nom nom), and have the other half sitting in my fridge for a later meal. Less than $9 for most sandwiches, and these things, again, are downright massive. The Grove Market building itself looks very old, is very cramped, and we had to wait in line a while to have our sandwiches made. We quickly understood why though, when we ended up with sandwiches that go on for days, and were able to walk out with those, plus three drinks from the cooler section (think gas station convenience store) for just over $20. If you're visiting Salt Lake, I definitely suggest giving this place a chance, even if it isn't a "known" name. Just be prepared to park on the side-street next to the building and walk a while, as the location isn't ideal.

AMAZING sandwich paired with super cheap price and wholy moly you have yourself a winner!! If I had to choose a food to eat for every meal for a year, it would be the deli sandwich. My boyfriend and I have apparently become hunters of the good local deli sandwich and so far this place is the best one yet! Based on the reviews before, it sounded like a win-win so we gave it a shot. The line was a bit long but I thought it was worth it or else it wouldn't be so busy. The sandwiches ARE HUGE. I ordered a half and it was bigger than a regular size sandwich you get at other restaurants/delis. Wow! So good! They have an amazing seasoning that they put on the sandwich and the roll is delightful. The meat doesn't taste processed and is sliced fresh on site. The man at the register is a delight and they have boxes of fresh pastries for 99 cents that are from a local bakery and so yummy! there are plenty of other little hidden market treasures in here and it can get pretty cozy trying to navigate the tight aisles with all the customers but it is well worth it! We will for sure be back!

A large sandwich with poor quality ingredients is not my thing. However I do like the hot sauce selection.

  • Danny O.

Huge sandwiches, good drink and chip selection, fast, cheap, fun place to hang out. Probably not the most delicious sandwich in the city, but the most enjoyable to eat.

  • Travis W.

Hot sauce and enormous sandwiches. Enough said.

    (4)
  • Max S.

Good, charismatic place that offers good food. If you have never been there, keep in mind the sandwiches are huge. Even half of the sandwich is more than most of the people can handle.

    (4)
  • Charles S.

Yummy sandwiches on freshly baked bread! And a little grocery store so you can take the Grove Market home with you. What could be better? Subway, eat your heart out!

    (4)
  • James D.

Fantastic little hole in the wall. All the drinks and hot sauces you would care to pick up last minute. Massive, reasonably priced sandwiches are the reason to go though. Parking can be a little hard to come by during the busiest of times, but worth the effort for a lunch and likely dinner if you buy the whole sandwich. I'm a big guy and all, but I can still only manage half a sandwich for lunch.

    (5)
  • E.M. B.

Sandwiches are good- not the best ever- but I like to get them for comedic purposes. These things are HUGE. You cannot fathom how giant we are talking until you see them. Best to go with a buddy and split one. They also have a crazy hot sauce selection... I have had to refrain from purchasing any, because I know I would not stop at just one and end up with a ridiculous collection of sauces.

    (3)
  • Rick G.

Ginormous sandwiches. I mean it's just silly. The half-size is enough to put a large man down for the count. That said, the sandwich was really good - one of the better delis in the area. The ordering process is a little tricky - not a lot of room inside the market for all the people lined up. Worth the lunch trip though, no question. Having the market there is nice though - gives you some options for drinks and snacks that you normally wouldn't have in a deli.

  • Tristan A.

Ah, the Grove, still here. Gosh was it 20+ years ago that I tried this place? I used to live in SLC before I moved away and then I came back about 8 years ago. I seem to remember my boss from KUTV took me there the first time, and it appears the only thing that have changed is the price. The sammies are excellent and, look at the pix here, probably at least 3 meals. Once you try the Grove, you will use it as your measuring stick for other sammies. The bread is outrageous, the fillings fresh and lish-ous.

I drove by a couple weeks ago after I had already eaten lunch and decided to go back the next day. I havent been here in 15 years and was glad to see they were still open. I've never tried the premade sandwiches but since I was in a hurry I just grabbed a roast beef on white and it was excellent. I need to go back and try the pastrami... In the past I had only tried their huge sub type sandwiches, I really like them but I just can't eat like I used to.

  • Codicho Z.

    wow gigantic sandwich

  • Bill B.

Gosh, how could one forget about the Grove? A little deli with a tiny grocery and huge submarine sandwiches that could feed a bachelor for days. Great selection of hot sauces. Lunch only, and often there are long lines. A few benches in front for Summer noshing.

    (4)
  • John L.

Enough of the five star ratings! I'm a fan of Grove's to be certain. I've been eating there for over 22 years! I started eating there back in the day when they included those giant Sicilian olives. They still sell 'em though. I like the fact that the menu has pretty much stayed the same, but the BBQ pork has been a nice addition. The sandwiches are tasty and BIG but they're not 5 star.

  • Bert A.

How is it that Grove hasn't had a review yet? This place epitomizes a neighborhood deli and has been around for decades. It's a corner market with mostly convenience store fare but the deli and the huge hot sauce section are the things to come for. The Subs are near replicas of a real US Navy Submarine (ie they are huge). One ~$8 sub can feed 3 people. Grove only serves lunch and be prepared for a line that can go out the door around noon. Excellent sub and is an SLC institution. There is no seating inside but sidewalk tables are available for good weather dining.

  • Barrett C.

this place is awesome.... i havent been there since I moved from SLC to Vegas... but given the reviews from last year, it appears as if it hasnt changed.... seriously this place makes man sized monster subs... delicious and reasonably priced... 5 dollar footlong from subway or 8 dollar MONSTER? guess which I would choose!

If you are looking for a sandwich that is amazing and the size of a small baby, this is the place! It was fast and fresh, and they have the best avocado I have ever had. I could not even come close to finishing a whole sandwich, half would have been more than enough. Really amazing, and worth the price. Another secret find :) Just fyi, if it is cold, plan on taking it home, there is only outdoor seating, since it is a small market and not a cafe or restaurant.

    (3)
  • Robin A.

Its so refreshing to see that small markets still exist in this day and age, this is one of the best with a large variety of different odds and ends, the deli in the back is awesome as well,I dare you to finish a large sandwich by yourself there should be a medal of some sorts if you complete it.

  • Clay W.

I absolutely love this place. OK deli sandwiches at a reasonable price (meat quality isn't great, but they're fresh otherwise), fresh produce, awesome selection of hot sauces and nice, clean tables out front. The owner is such a nice guy, too. Check out your corner shop!

The best little deli. Love this place. * Amazing variety of bottled drinks * Eclairs are delicious! * Employees are super nice * Deluxe sandwich is amazing. 2 people can share and I like to eat! My wife is pregnant, can't stand meat right now, but did have this sandwich and loved it.

This place rocks my socks. I love the tomato and avocado most. Their baked goods are always incredible too. They are quite busy (as they should be!) so I always do a call-in order and I'm in and out in minutes. Very convenient location and some of the nicest people to serve you. I always look forward to going here. I probably go once every week to every other week because their sandwiches are truly amazing and I find myself craving this place. The bread is SO good.

HOLY SANDWICH! My wife's uncle came back to work with a sandwich, and my wife tried a bit. I then got a text that we needed to go here for lunch that day. So we met donw at Grove Market, and not knowing what to expect when we walked in, we were surprised to find that that sandwich she had seen earlir came from a little stop 'n go type place. Don't let the size of the shop fool you, the size and quality of the sandwich will more than make up for it. The sandwich was a bit hard to eat, mostly because of its size. But all and all, this food was far above par. I only wish they had someplace to sit and eat inside the building, as it was very cold and windy outside.

Delicious BLT The BLT on sourdough is the best BLT anyone can ever have. The sourdough is sliced bread vs the hoagie Ambassador roll, but it is the better route to go. Very generous portions of bacon, it's a hearty sandwich. The BLT is my favorite sandwich there, with the roast beef coming in a very close 2nd. The Deluxe is very popular but I don't care for the turkey they use. The Big John is too much meat for the average person, though some will praise it. Be prepared to wait. It's a very popular place and unless you go at some awkward hour of the day, you will wait. Save yourself some time and call in your order ahead of time. Glorious BLT!

I would consider myself a pretty picky eater especially when it comes to deli - style sandwhiches. The Grove is amazing. This sandwich will change your life. I went for the first time last week and I've been back three times since. The full meatball with provolone is what the best dreams are made of also roast beef and turkey and the pulled pork. I went for lunch today and as I write this review I think I'll go back right now for round two. Best EVER!

  • Taisia A.

This place is almost TOO great. I absolutely loved the market/deli combo. The sandwiches are simply amazing and we even decided to treat ourselves to some fresh pastries near the register. Also, the ghost pepper cheese on the Italian was a match made in heaven.

  • Donna C.

Run don't walk to groves...what I can promise you: YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! What I can also promise you: YOU SHOULD SHARE THE SANDWICH {it's seriously HUGE and too big to consume alone!} Share the sandwich and grab a couple of the freshly made desserts to try, num-e!

  • Amy R.

Hidden treasure, I had no idea this place was here. HUGE sandwiches that are extremely fresh and tasty. I got the turkey and a pastrami for a friend, and we both thought it was the best sandwich we'd had in a long time. We only ordered the half sandwiches and we still couldn't finish them. They do have a patio to sit on if you wish, but no indoor seating. This place reminded me of a little corner store you'd find in a big city like NYC. The cute owner (I'm assuming) running the register who was super friendly, the random assortment of things to buy, the "regulars" stopping in. From what I saw going on, you can also call in group orders for pickup.

  • Kade P.

The sandwiches here are fantastic and gigantic, served on a whole loaf of delicious bread. You can quite easily feed about 3-4 average eaters with one sandwich. They also have a market which is great for a lot of harder to find products. The sandwich I typically get is a turkey, bacon and avocado, adding to it a bit of everything.. They have all the fixins you could possible want to add to a sandwich, as well as a number of condiments. They have all the meats and cheeses you could really hope for, also functioning as a full blown deli and market, so you can pop in for real sugar soda, sandwich, and get some of your shopping done too. Great outdoor dining for warmer days, nothing indoor - so plan to take it home if too cold a day.

  • Justin W.

Great little deli/market. When I first was looking at the menu I thought it was a bit pricey for a neighborhood deli. Then I got my sandwich. I ordered the Italian and it was huge! Definitely two meals worth. Not only that, but it was delicious. In addition to the great sandwich from the deli, the market had a great drink selection. Way more than the typical Coke and Pepsi selections that you typically find. This is going to be my go-to sandwich shop.

My family's been going there for years the best sandwich. And still go there when kids are in town thanks

when it comes to deli sandwiches this place is it! my all time favorite THE BIG JOHN a massive meaty sandwich with all the trimmings that will not disappoint is my fav. It can literally feed 2-4 people. P.S check out the hot sauce isle with funky cool names and all kinds of heat.

What if I told you that you didn't have to settle with your average lunch at your average fast food store with your average daily life. That you could turn it all around. That you would walk away from your lunch feeling like you conquered your day. That you 'will' make the sweetest love to your beloved like never before. Behold... I give you.. Grove Market Deli Sandwiches...

After a quick stop at Performance Bike, I used Yelp to find a good local lunch spot near me. Wow, did it ever! Its a tiny grocery store with an incredible deli in the back of the store. The line was almost to the front door so I asked someone in line if it was worth the wait and she responded "YES!". She was right! I ordered "The Big John" and split it with a friend. It was so big that I had to work very hard to finish my half. Its not just the size of the sandwich that earns it 5 stars, its the quality of all the ingredients. Very Good! It's on my short list the next time I am in SLC.

What if I told you, there was a a place with the best hot sauce selection between here and Santa Fe? And, What if I told you this same place had some of the best hand made sandwiches you could imagine? When my co-worker told me about the sandwiches, I thought he had to have been joking, so i told him "yeah grab me the full sized Big John". Hello Lunch for three days. The place is awesome, they are huge Utah fans who bleed red, and support the Utes. They always have sports talk radio going, it reminds me of a one of the bodega's back east where you could sit and relax and watch the kids. If you don't check it out you're doing lunch in Salt Lake City wrong.

  • Matthew K.

The deluxe was huge. Fed two kids, my wife, and I. We threw on avacado for a dollar...worth it. Big thick bread with great cheese and meat. Yum. We had the potato and macaroni salad. They were both good, nothing special but good.

    (4)
  • Tim B.

Best sandwiches in the state! My favorite is " the deluxe ". One sandwich feeds me four meals! If there is a line out the door its worth the wait. Staff is always extremely friendly.

ginormous, delicious sandwiches the pastrami is my favourite. it's a good idea to split one with someone. even if you go at lunch time when there will be a line, it moves quickly as these guys are sandwich pros!

Great place if you like deli sandwiches. They're big enough for 2 or tree people. The market has a huge selection of hot sauces and other goodies, patio eating in good weather.

  • David L.

Cmon SLC!!! Hold yourselves to a higher standard when it comes to food. This sandwich was as bland as it gets. The quality of the products in the sandwich were very basic no higher quality than what you would get from the lower level shelf at any grocery store. No uniqueness or creativity when it comes to the sandwiches just a ton of processed meat and cheeses with mayo and mustard. Wow! Never thought of that before! The quality of the turkey was disgusting, thick slices of processed meat. Can anyone help me find a real deli sandwich is this town? You know who liked the sandwich? My trashcan...

  • Eddie Q.

Their sandwiches are fantastic! I love the setting - the owners have kept it quaint and unique. The walls are covered with photographs of Utah in the early 1950's -1980's, magazine articles about the store, and awesome memorabilia from different beer makers. When you walk in you'll immediately hear the radio playing classic hits, which really adds to the feel of the place. Groves also has an amazing selection of spicy sauces. Everything from the usual suspects like Tobasco to sauces made by local Utah companies. Best of all their sandwiches are delicious! They use a full loaf of bread for your sandwich which means they are HUGE - I usually split one with my GF or have left overs for dinner/lunch the next day. They also carry desserts from local companies made fresh every day; eclairs, cookies, brownies, etc. The staff is fantastic. The owner rings everyone out and always greets you with a warm, friendly smile. I recommend visiting groves market & deli to strangers in from out of town, friends, and family!

Jesus take the wheel!!!!! I went to this place about 8-10 years ago when I went to school in Utah and completely forgot about it! This should be a UT staple and we need to call Guy and get this place featured on the food network! I got a sandwich about the size of my arm (I am 285lbs). Needless to say this sandwich and I almost got into a fist fight! I have to bow down and submit to the sand which, I was defeated. I couldn't even eat HALF of it. I could not believe how great the sandwich was and how much flavor all of the meat had. Absolutely unbelievable! This place is amazing and if you are in SLC, this place is a MUST! I have to take my hat off to the owners for keeping a small neighborhood market like this in business. Great job! Sincerely, The guy who couldn't eat a Groves Market Sandwich

  • Jeeper W.

Grove has the best deli sandwiches in Utah and if you have not been here you are seriously missing out. One word of advice the sandwiches are as big as your head so I usually only get a half but very tasty.

Great sandwich! I had the Delux and would order it again. Be forewarned that the sandwiches are huge! You might want to order a half!

I have previously bitched, moaned and yelped about one of my biggest dining peeves. Lame ass sandwiches. More bread than filling makes me angry. Places like Jimmy John's, Zupas, Kneaders, and Paradise Bakery are all in that category. Annoying restaurants that serve annoying sandwiches. But the Grove Market is different. Sure, there is a lot of bread in their sandwiches, but there is also a gargantuan heap of quality cold cuts to balance it out. Holy smokes. These things are massive. All their subs are good, but I can't even seem to finish a half of a Big John Combo (see the photo). But I love trying. This is a great deli in the back of a small and inviting store that sells a small selection of gourmet items, and some staples. i enjoy the hot sauces and specialty sodas. The Grove Market is fine by me.

I know it's been said on here but I'll say it again, the sandwiches here are DELICIOUS. I am a bit of a sandwich lover myself, and they make them perfectly. I get the tomato avocado sandwich and I swear they must put an entire avocado on each sandwich, and I'm not sure where they get there avocados from, but I think it's some magical far away land that produces only perfect avocados. The bread is delicious and soft but not mushy and the seasonings and pickles they put on there make it the best sandwich I've ever had. I randomly chose a bottle of hot sauce from their giant selection and that was delicious, too. The owner is very nice and personable as is everyone else who works there. It's the perfect little deli.

MASSIVE SANDWICHES!!! High quality ingredients for excellent prices. If you do sandwiches this is a must in the rotation. A full sandwich is plenty for 2 people. Plus it's a market so great selection of drinks, chips, snacks, fruit.

  • Randall H.

Not sure why I'm even bothering to write a review. All the others speak for themselves. One of Salt Lake's best kept secrets. HUGE sandwiches for a great price. And it's not just the quantity it's the quality. These sandwiches are great. It's a bit of a pain to navigate through the tiny shop when it's busy at lunch time but it's worth it. My favorite is the deluxe. Be sure to check out their AMAZING selection of hot sauces. Stuff you didn't know existed but you'll really want to try. The drink, chips and fruit selection is really good too. Really nice little shop.

I can't rave enough about Groves! The food is always fresh! The folks are nice! and even though its a really old and small place, it is incredibly clean! Get the avocado and tomato on whole wheat or the pulled pork. It will change your life.

A Salt Lake treasure. You won't love every sandwich, but it's worth finding the one you love. Very cool place to visit. Come for the sandwich, stay for the novelty sodas or the extensive hot sauce assortment.

I mean really. Could I have eaten the entire sandwich? You betcha. But I just decided to stash the second half for later. Or I also could have taken it to a fire station and fed all the firefighters there, or a highschool luchroom, or fed a small nation. But I had it for dinner instead. As others have indicated, the sandwiches are large and in charge. You really would be fine sharing one between two people, but don't feel like you have to. You wanna man up, you go for it. And these are the kind of sandwiches that you'd expect from a place like Grove Market that's been around for such a long time. They've seen sandwich fads come and go, but they stick with thick cuts of deli meat, big bakery bread, and crinkle cut old school pickle slices. Oh. Those pickles. I enjoyed a deluxe. Ham, turkey, cheese, avocado, tomato, and slathered with mayo. If you're mayo skittish, just tell them to hold back. It's gonna be well lubricated. And let's not forget the market part of Grove Market. It's teeny, but it's well stocked with a few of life's necessities. Why hit up "The Sev" when you can support a longstanding family establishment like this? Squeeeeeze through the aisles and get whatcha need. The north wall is all refrigerators, with a few old school sodas if you're so inclined. A word on the process: If you're after a sandwich, the deli is all the way to the back. Hug the fridge wall and make your order, sliding down to the other end of the counter so others can order behind you. He'll hand you your sandwich, then take it to the register to pay. You may want to grab an eclair or other tasty at the register. They bring them in from Carol's--another old school SLC place which has now pinged my tummy radar. There are a few tables out front, or you can take it to go. They'll box/bag it up for you and get you on your way. I can't explain it, but it just makes me feel better knowing that there are places like Grove left in the world.

When people say these sandwiches are big they're not kidding, basically half a French loaf of bread from the grocery store turned into a sandwich... That being said, I wasn't impressed with the sandwich. Basically it's the same thing you can make yourself using sliced meats, cheese and a loaf of bread from the grocery store. There is nothing that really stands out and makes them special other than the fact that you don't have to make them yourself. However considering the place is basically just a market deli that's not really a surprise at all. What I found more impressive was the market itself, obviously the owners have a softspot for hot sauce. This place had more varieties of hot sauce then I've seen in my life; the few hot sauces I've heard people mention are lost into a massive display of most hot sauces available in the nation. Doing some quick simple math in my head I figured that you could buy a new bottle of hot sauce every day of the year and never have to taste the same sauce all year (and much of the year after). Another cool thing was that a few of the hot sauces were kept behind the register. I'm guessing those are the ones too dangerous to sell over the counter?

    (4)
  • John F.

Its so refreshing to see that small markets still exist in this day and age, this is one of the best with a large variety of different odds and ends, the deli in the back is awesome as well,I dare you to finish a large sandwich by yourself there should be a medal of some sorts if you complete it.

    (5)
  • Tina S.

I absolutely love this place. OK deli sandwiches at a reasonable price (meat quality isn't great, but they're fresh otherwise), fresh produce, awesome selection of hot sauces and nice, clean tables out front. The owner is such a nice guy, too. Check out your corner shop!

Best EVER!

This place is almost TOO great. I absolutely loved the market/deli combo. The sandwiches are simply amazing and we even decided to treat ourselves to some fresh pastries near the register. Also, the ghost pepper cheese on the Italian was a match made in heaven.

The deluxe was huge. Fed two kids, my wife, and I. We threw on avacado for a dollar...worth it. Big thick bread with great cheese and meat. Yum. We had the potato and macaroni salad. They were both good, nothing special but good.

Grove has the best deli sandwiches in Utah and if you have not been here you are seriously missing out. One word of advice the sandwiches are as big as your head so I usually only get a half but very tasty.

Huge sandwiches, good drink and chip selection, fast, cheap, fun place to hang out. Probably not the most delicious sandwich in the city, but the most enjoyable to eat.

Good, charismatic place that offers good food. If you have never been there, keep in mind the sandwiches are huge. Even half of the sandwich is more than most of the people can handle.

Yummy sandwiches on freshly baked bread! And a little grocery store so you can take the Grove Market home with you. What could be better? Subway, eat your heart out!

Gosh, how could one forget about the Grove? A little deli with a tiny grocery and huge submarine sandwiches that could feed a bachelor for days. Great selection of hot sauces. Lunch only, and often there are long lines. A few benches in front for Summer noshing.

There is no seating inside but sidewalk tables are available for good weather dining.

this place is awesome.... i havent been there since I moved from SLC to Vegas... but given the reviews from last year, it appears as if it hasnt changed.... seriously this place makes man sized monster subs... delicious and reasonably priced... 5 dollar footlong from subway or 8 dollar MONSTER? guess which I would choose!
